Notification email dosn't sended

We meet again. I've been reading the document for 4 hours and shouldn't have missed anything 😞

My backend can send auth email in time so there should be no problem with email settings. But I never got any notification email.

I have been out of ideas about this strange problem, any help is greatly appreciated.

By the way, I'm curious how Remark42 sends notification emails.
As I understand, the backend does not store the user's email address. Does the user have to make a subscription explicitly before they can get a reply notification?

I also checked the logs and there are no warnings or errors -- just some general access log.

I propose you check the remark42 startup logs for errors and warnings related to notification, and check the notification-related logs at the time of sending the message.

If there will be a problem with sending, you'll see WARN message following the DEBUG message about sending the email, like following:

However, only admin can receive the notification email. Just like my question, do users have to subscribe manually to get a reply notification after leaving a comment? If true, I don't see the button to subscribe by email.

With your config, non-anonymous users should see the "Subscribe by Email" option which they should use to get notifications about all replies to their messages.

In addition, I think it should subscribe automatically after replying, because usually users want feedback.

We can't subscribe the users automatically for a number of reasons. Could you please share the notify-related part of the startup log so I could verify that user notifications are indeed enabled?
